DU's #1 conservation focus area – the Prairie Pothole Region– provides Oklahoma with the vast majority of our waterfowl migration. More than 90% of the banded ducks harvested in Oklahoma originate in this critical portion of the breeding grounds.DU and our conservation partners have conserved more than 6 million acres of critical waterfowl habitat in the Prairie Pothole Region.

The dollars raised at local DU events are the primary funds that drive our vital waterfowl habitat conservation.

The best way Oklahoma duck hunters can help protect these vital habitats is by volunteering for their local DU committee.

Our local DU event system would fail to exist without the dedicated volunteers who organize and manage the local chapters across the country.

More than 95% of the public projects DU has performed work on in Oklahoma are open to public hunting.

DU is the ONLY waterfowl conservation organization with a Washington DC staff whose purpose is to work with lawmakers to see that waterfowl needs are represented when congressional issues will have an impact on waterfowl habitat.

DU and our partners have performed more than $9 million worth of conservation projects in Oklahoma on approximately 29,000 acres.

DU ranks 115 out of almost 1,000,000 non-profit organizations in the United States in terms of organizational efficiency.

Because our members and Board of Directors believe so strongly in our conservation mission, at least 80% of the dollars raised by DU is spent for direct on-the-ground conservation efforts.

Duck hunters founded DU in 1937 and hunters make up 90% of our current membership.

While DU's #1 priority is waterfowl, 900 or more wildlife species benefit from our conservation work.
