Memphis, Tenn. - August 7, 2015 - Photographer and hunter Doug Steinke grew up in central Nebraska, hunting with his father and listening to stories about magical waterfowl hunting along the Platte River. Steinke's love of waterfowl and the landscape led to a successful career as a wildlife photographer. Many years later, and with hundreds of Ducks Unlimited magazine photo credits to his name, Steinke still lives in Nebraska and hunts the Platte.

"Freelancing" is the sixth entry in DU's online film series. Viewers follow Steinke, with shotgun and camera in hand, to some of his favorite waterfowling spots, while he discusses the special connection between his passion for hunting and his passion for capturing waterfowling images.

"I've kind of done all the hunting thing up to this point," said Steinke. "Now I'm just trying to capture what we used to do and what we still do. Getting the chance to be able to come out and experience these places on the rivers and experience a hunt-I'm extremely fortunate to be able to take part in that with a lot of friends. It's simply a magical place to hunt waterfowl because of the history and tradition."

Ducks Unlimited's new online film series is for people who are passionate about waterfowl and conservation. Produced in partnership with Rock Road Creative, DU Films goes beyond the confines and formulas of traditional hunting shows, presenting the beauty and passion of waterfowling in new and unexpected ways. Viewers can watch the films and find more information about the series at www.ducks.org/dufilms.

DU Films is made possible through sponsorships from Sitka Gear, Buck Gardner Calls and The Original Muck Boot Company.
