Ducks Unlimited hosts collegiate summit
Memphis, Tenn. - August 16, 2018 - Ducks Unlimited (DU) recently hosted its fifth annual Third Term collegiate leadership summit in Memphis, Tenn. More than 180 university volunteers representing 52 chapters across the country attended this year's summit, making it the largest to date.
DU's corporate partner Axalta Coating Systems was the title sponsor for the summit. Additional corporate partners included Mossy Oak Brand Camo, Artisans Apparel, Drake Waterfowl Systems, Sweetwater Brewing Company, and SportDOG Brand.
"This year's summit could not have been possible without the support of Axalta," said DU First Vice President Doug Schoenrock. "They understand the importance of educating young leaders on what will be expected of them upon graduation. Ducks Unlimited is grateful for their contribution to this event and wetlands conservation."
The summit began with a reception and dinner for state chairmen and state youth and education chairmen, followed by a training session on DU's youth and education programs. Third Term participants had the opportunity to visit DU's national headquarters.
DU CEO Dale Hall and National Director of Event Fundraising David Schuessler were the weekend's featured speakers. The evening was capped off with an awards presentation presented by SportDOG.
"I was energized to see the excitement and dedication from young women and men who volunteer their time for something they both love and learn from in so many ways," said Regina M. Tracy, Axalta's Head of Global CSR and Internal Communications. "Their commitment to wetlands conservation today proves that DU is headed in the right direction now and well into the future."
Next year's collegiate leadership summit will be held August 2-3 in Memphis, Tenn.
