Volunteer leaders guide wetlands conservation
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Sept. 28, 2023 – Ducks Unlimited (DU), the leader in wetlands conservation, celebrates the election of new members of its board of directors.
“Ducks Unlimited is known for its well-defined, science-based conservation mission and exceptional leadership. Wetlands play a critical role in supporting and maintaining waterfowl and so much more,” said Ducks Unlimited President Chuck Smith. “I am proud to welcome these fellow conservationists to the ranks of leaders of the greatest conservation organization in North America.”
DU’s new members of the board include:
Mikk Anderson, Aurora, Colorado. Anderson is executive vice president of Resight Holdings LLC. In addition to serving DU as a Colorado state chair, state board member and a member of numerous committees, Anderson works with Guide Dogs for the Blind, Arapahoe County Republican Breakfast Club, Arapahoe Water and Wastewater Authority, a life member of Trout Unlimited and Pheasants Forever and a member of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers.
David Bowers, Dimondale, Michigan. Bowers, a retired senior project and program engineer for Barnes Aerospace-Lansing Division, has been a DU volunteer since 1985 and has served as committee, zone and district chairman. Bowers, an accomplished wetland and waterfowl photographer and owner of Art of Nature images has also served DU in numerous capacities on the state and national levels and the National Public Policy team.
Micheal Bulk, Sabetha, Kansas. Bulk, corporate quality assurance director with Fairview Mills LLC, has served DU as a Kansas area, district and state chairman. He currently serves on the DU Public Policy and Development National Committees. He is a founding member of the charitable organization the Sabetha, Kansas, Barbecue Club.
Jason Cormier M.D., Lafayette, Louisiana. Cormier, president and CEO of Acadiana Neurosurgery, is a current member of DU’s Conservation Programs Committee (CPC) and the CPC Science Subcommittee. He is a member of numerous professional groups, including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Louisiana State Medical Society, the Acadiana Angels Network and many more.
Max Finazzo, McLean, Virginia. Finazzo is associate director of practice services for law firm Jones Day in Washington, D.C. He has served DU as Virginia state chairman, state campaign chairman, area chairman and Virginia Policy chair.
David Keller, Indianapolis, Indiana. Keller, founder and principal of Bridger Capital Partners LLC, has served DU on the local and state levels as a committee member, chairman and Finance Committee member. Keller has been an Indiana University Kelley School of Business, Center for Real Estate Studies advisory board member since 2005. He is also on the board of directors for Vision Properties, Inc., which develops and manages affordable housing properties in Indiana, Illinois and Maryland. He is a member of the hunting, fishing and conservation group The International Order of St. Hubertus-Ordensbrother.
Jason Stewart, Trumann, Arkansas. Stewart, who joined DU in 1994 and became a DU volunteer two years later, is a senior account manager for UPS. He has served DU as an Arkansas area, zone, district and state chairman, state council chairman and regional vice president.
Jack Witt, Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Witt, who retired from AT&T and DirecTV as a senior director, has served DU in various local and state roles since 1998. In addition to his commitment to Ducks Unlimited, Witt is a member and supporter of Trout Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
In other business, DU Board member Jay Owen, of Broussard, Louisiana, was named senior flyway vice president of DU’s Region 4.
