MEMPHIS, Tenn. - March 20, 2020 - Ducks Unlimited released the latest film in its online series. In Red Dogs, DU Magazine contributing photographer Mark Atwater and his golden retrievers are featured.

Watch the film at www.ducks.org/dufilms.

Mark began taking pictures as a young adult and his skills and passion grew from there.
"I started in photography in college,&dquo; Mark explained. "It was all 35mm film, manual everything. The dog stuff started about the same time and I just got hooked.&dquo;

He also fell in love with field-bred, hunting golden retrievers. The dogs combine beauty with style in the field and are very photogenic. One of Mark&squo;s goldens graced the DU magazine cover of the May/June 2019 issue. It was the first golden retriever on the cover since 1980.

"We call them red dogs,&dquo; Mark said. "There is just something about their personality that&squo;s amazing, it&squo;s intoxicating, it&squo;s addicting.&dquo;

Mark&squo;s first photo in DU Magazine was a table of contents shot in the January/February 2013 issue. Predictably, it was one of his dogs carrying a drake mallard in the late afternoon light. He shed some light on what being published in DU magazine means to him.

"The magazine is everyone&squo;s dream. Every outdoor photographer wants to be in DU Magazine, it&squo;s a tremendous goal. It&squo;s a feather in your cap, an honor really,&dquo; Mark said.

The film closes with a photographic collage of Mark&squo;s work across the outdoor spectrum.
