MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Oct. 12, 2015 - Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid will host an inaugural Waterfowl Expo starting Oct. 16 with proceeds benefitting Ducks Unlimited (DU), North America's leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation. The Expo is an extension of DU Month where Bass Pro Shops retail stores in the United States will offer the "Round-up for Conservation" program at the register when making purchases. In addition to the donations from customers, Bass Pro will match each donation by 50 percent.
"This event is one-of-a-kind for Memphis, and I am truly excited to see the great turnout by outdoorsmen and women from the area," said DU CEO Dale Hall. "DU Month is but one more way Bass Pro Shops Founder Johnny Morris and his associates support conservation and the Ducks Unlimited mission. The great team at Bass Pro doesn't just advocate for conservation, they help make it happen."
The Waterfowl Expo starts Oct. 16 and runs through Oct. 25 with celebrity appearances by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Si Robertson, Dude Perfect, DU Chief Scientist Scott Yaich, local call maker and DU partner Buck Gardner and DU TV host Field Hudnall, to name a few.
Events during the extravaganza include a Waterfowl Collector's Showcase - where verbal appraisals will be given for unique waterfowl decoys and other waterfowl and hunting related items - along with demonstrations and seminars by some of the nation's best waterfowl dog trainers, decoy carving by world-renowned carver Charles Jobes, and much, much more.
On Oct. 22, Bass Pro Shops will also host the Duck Dash - a 5K run/walk - with part of the proceeds benefitting DU. Local staff from DU's national headquarters in Memphis will be on-hand to assist with many of the events during the 10-day festival, and the Ducks Unlimited Waterfowling Heritage Center inside the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid will be open for visitors throughout the festival.
"Having the chance to work closely with our partners at Bass Pro Shops right here in our hometown is a very special opportunity for Ducks Unlimited and our area members and volunteers," added Hall. "We look forward to celebrating our conservation mission and the traditions of waterfowling with our local partners and supporters in the coming weeks."
