Bass Pro Shops at Pyramid to host Flocktoberfest

MEMPHIS, Tennessee Oct. 5, 2016 Bass Pro Shops at the Memphis Pyramid will host Flocktoberfest, an annual hunting expo and sale, starting Friday, Oct. 7, and featuring the second annual Duck Dash 5K Family Walk/Run, with proceeds benefitting Ducks Unlimited, scheduled for Oct. 15.
"Flocktoberfest and the annual Duck Dash 5K are just a couple of the ways Bass Pro Shops Founder Johnny Morris and his Associates continue to spread the word about Ducks Unlimited and support our conservation mission," said DU CEO Dale Hall. "Come to Flocktoberfest at the Bass Pro Shops at the Memphis Pyramid, celebrate conservation and check out the Ducks Unlimited Waterfowling Heritage Center and the DU tent while you are there."
On Oct. 15 and 16, under the DU tent outside the Pyramid, Ducks Unlimited will host master duck decoy carver Charles Jobes, wildlife artists Clay Connor and Larry Richardson, as well as representatives from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Waterfowl antiquities appraiser Jon Deeter of Guyette and Deeter will be on hand Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon and 3 to 5 p.m. to appraise decoys.
Flocktoberfest begins Friday with an opening night fireworks celebration and music by the Memphis Symphony Orchestra Big Band. A free concert by musical group Sugar Ray is set for Saturday evening, Oct. 8.
Flocktoberfest runs through Oct. 16 with NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., his brother, Kerry Earnhardt, and sister, Kelley Earnhardt-Miller scheduled to appear Saturday morning, Oct. 8.
Other celebrities scheduled to appear throughout the week include Duck Commanders Jase Robertson, Troy Landry from the History Channel series Swamp People, Martin Truex Jr., driver of the No. 78 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Toyota, and billiards star Jeanette The Black Widow Lee.
The annual extravaganza includes free hunting seminars from industry pros including Field Hudnall, host of Ducks Unlimited TV and Buck Gardner, world champion duck caller and founder of Buck Gardner Calls.
Other Flocktoberfest events include the Super Retriever Series dog jumping competition, two duck calling competitions, the World Moon Pie Eating Championship, interactive displays, free activities for the kids and much more.
