Ducks Unlimited's Western Region covers Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington with nearly 60 employees working to spread DU's message of conservation throughout the West Coast. DU's Western Region Office (WRO) headquarters was relocated to the Sacramento area in the late 1980s from the Midwest and moved into its current location in Rancho Cordova, a suburb of the state capitol, in January of 1996. The WRO also has smaller offices in Vancouver, Washington and the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as biologists and engineers in strategic locations throughout the Pacific Northwest and California Central Valley.
To date, DU and its partners have conserved more than 984,000 acres of waterfowl habitat in the U.S. portion of the Pacific Flyway alone, focusing on the top conservation priority areas in this flyway, including the Central Valley and Pacific coast of California, the Pacific Northwest, and the western boreal forest.
