The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has announced DU is one of three finalists for its 2018 Excellence in Cooperative Conservation award. According to a national news release, the award winner is being recognized for working side-by-side with the NRCS to augment the value of the agency's technical assistance and support implementation of Farm Bill conservation programs.
DU has been working with South Dakota producers and NRCS to improve soil health.
"The finalists' teamwork to blend resources of individuals, private organizations, universities, local, state, and federal government entities has strengthened overall relationships." Jeff Ximprich, NRCS's State Conservationist from Huron South Dakota. "This year, all three finalists have done amazing work to further conservation across South Dakota."
