WASHINGTON, D.C. Dec. 6, 2017 Hartford resident Bill Marketon and Kimball resident Harold Bickner met with Sen. John Thune this week in Washington, D.C. on behalf of Ducks Unlimited. The meeting focused on local and federal conservation issues, affecting South Dakota. Volunteers also met with Sen. Mike Rounds and Rep. Kristi Noem.
Each year Ducks Unlimited volunteers meet in Washington to ask for federal support for key conservation programs. This year, meetings were focused on the
North American Wetlands Conservation Act and conservation provisions in the upcoming
Farm Bill.
More than 45 Ducks Unlimited volunteers from 26 states came to Washington for the annual meeting. Ducks Unlimited is the worlds largest non-profit organization dedicated to conserving North America's disappearing waterfowl habitats. Since 1937, Ducks Unlimited has conserved more than 14 million acres of land and has more than a million supporters across the continent.
