Project Dedicated to DU Volunteers Jon and Colleen Kruse
Little Storm Lake was dedicated to Ducks Unlimited volunteers Jon and Colleen Kruse for their tireless conservation efforts in the community. The Kruses volunteer for various outdoor organizations, but their work on behalf of Ducks Unlimited is nearest and dearest to their hearts. Jon, who is the mayor of Storm Lake, Iowa, joined the local committee in 1981 and has previously served as DU state chairman and regional vice president. Colleen has served on the local DU committee and various state committees and has been a DU state trustee and national delegate.
To celebrate the couple's accomplishments, their many friends in the conservation community raised $257,000 in DU major gifts designated for Ducks Unlimited's Living Lakes Initiative. Little Storm Lake encompasses 190 acres, and approximately 70 percent of the watershed flows through it into Storm Lake. The project was completed in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the City of Storm Lake.
