While Ducks Unlimited de Mxico (DUMAC) conserves and restores wetland habitats south of the border, many of the organizations strongest supporters live and work in the United States. David and Carolyn Blakemore reside in Campbell, Missouri, in the northwest corner of the states bootheel region. They are committed waterfowlers and conservationists.

Davids DU roots stretch back to 1989. All I really ever wanted to be was district chairman, David said. It went a little farther than that. He has held positions at every DU leadership level from state to national, all the way to senior vice president, DU Canada board member, and current DUMAC board member. I have had some great mentors along the way, he said. There are so many great volunteer leaders in Ducks Unlimited. Im just glad to be a part of it.

DUMAC projects not only help waterfowl and other wildlife but also provide real benefits to the people of Mexico. In conjunction with its wetlands projects in rural parts of the country, DUMAC has installed filtration systems that lower bacteria levels in water supplies. This is among many reasons why the Blakemore family chooses to support DUMAC.

David believes in the DUMAC staff and their ability to lead the organization to even greater heights. The people running DUMAC, from CEO and Executive Director Eduardo Carrera to every member of his team, are making an outstanding impact on the resource. Not enough can be said about the job they have done in Mexico, he said.
