Get ready for an unforgettable day in the great outdoors! Mack’s Prairie Wings and Ducks Unlimited are teaming up to host a thrilling statewide conservation snow goose hunting competition on Sunday, Feb. 2. This exciting event allows teams of up to ten members to showcase their skills for a $1,250 entry fee per team.

 Hunting is limited to Arkansas, but competitors do not need to be from Arkansas to participate. Best of all, it’s for a great cause. Every goose harvested will be donated to Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry, and all proceeds will support Ducks Unlimited and Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry.

 This annual event is about more than just waterfowling. It is about helping Arkansas farmers.

 “Light geese have become a growing challenge for Arkansas farmers, with their exploding populations causing significant damage to ecosystems and wildlife,” said DU Chief Conservation Officer Dr. Karen Waldrop. “In response, major efforts began in 1999 to address the issue by empowering hunters to play a key role in population control. Unlike costly and controversial direct control measures, expanded hunting opportunities are an affordable, socially accepted, and effective way to manage wildlife populations. Even better, these efforts don’t go to waste. Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry ensures that harvested geese are processed and distributed to needy families. Thanks to the collaboration of hunters, organizations, businesses, and churches, the surplus of light geese is transformed into a valuable, renewable food source for those who need it most.
