MEMPHIS, Tenn. - March 18, 2016 - Ducks Unlimited announced the winners of the 2016 Wetland Conservation Achievement Awards during the 81st North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference held in Pittsburgh, Pa. This year's recipient in the Communications category is Don Dubuc out of Louisiana.
"Don Dubuc has done more to create public awareness of environmental and resource oriented issues across Louisiana than perhaps any other media representative," said DU Chief Conservation Officer Paul Schmidt. "Because he truly understands the ramifications of coastal habitat loss and the need for short term sacrifice for long term gain, and because he has been reaching the very audience that must be willing to make that sacrifice for more than 30 years, we have selected Don Dubuc for the 2016 Wetlands Conservation Achievement Award in Communications"
Don Dubuc is one of the most respected voices in outdoor media in Louisiana, and he is committed to the inclusion of conservation information in his popular radio and TV shows and outdoor articles.
"It's truly an honor to be recognized by such a prestigious organization," Dubuc said. "Thanks to those at Ducks Unlimited who nominated and selected me to receive this award and to these stations who realize the importance of providing waterfowl conservation information to the public and allow me to be the messenger. I want to share this award with my Gulf Coast media partners, flagship station WWL 870 AM/FM in New Orleans and the affiliates, KPEL 96.5 FM, Lafayette, WNXX 104.5 FM, Baton Rouge, LA KNXX 104.9 Donaldsonville, KAOK AM 1400, Lake Charles and WAVH 106.5 FM, Mobile, Ala. who comprise the 'Outdoors with Don Dubuc Radio Network' and WWL TV News in New Orleans."
