While many people were recovering from holiday festivities, the New York Ducks Unlimited major gift fundraising team began 2017 with their annual Hunt the Hamptons event Jan. 6 and 7.
Formerly the Long Island Major Donor Hunt, this two-day fundraising season kickoff featured conservation presentations, an exquisite game dinner and waterfowl hunting in the iconic Hamptons region of Long Island.
Hunt the Hamptons was hosted by New York Ducks Unlimited State Chairman Duane Arnister and his Deerfield Guide Service. This year marked the 13th anniversary of the event, which has raised more than $1 million in cash and commitments throughout its history.
This year, 22 donors and guests from across the Northeast were treated to presentations from Sarah Fleming, Ducks Unlimited Completing the Cycle Initiative manager of conservation programs, and Tom Duffy, manager of provincial operationsAtlantic Canada.
The group spent quality blind time together and were rewarded with a bountiful harvest of 57 Canada geese, three green-winged teal and one gadwall.
New York Ducks Unlimited celebrated the attendees contribution to waterfowl and wildlife habitat conservation by recognizing five Presidents Council members, five completed pledges, seven new commitments and three Feather Society gifts or upgrades.
Hunt the Hamptons was a team effort, requiring coordination and commitment from numerous volunteers and staff. It continues to be a staple of the fundraising season and an example of the strength of the New York Ducks Unlimited fundraising team.
