A DU Heritage Sponsor, member of the President’s Council, and active DU volunteer, Gary Head has assumed a lead role in conserving Arkansas’s forested wetlands.

Gary Head knows what it means to stay the course. A proud Ducks Unlimited member for more than 30 years, Gary has spent a lot of time in the blind, at DU events, and, most important, sharing the DU mission with others. One only needs to spend a few moments talking to this DU Heritage Sponsor and former chair of the Northwest Arkansas chapter to experience his passion for wetlands and waterfowl conservation. “Duck hunting comes naturally to people in Arkansas, and people naturally come to Arkansas to duck hunt,” Gary said. “As the chairman and CEO of Signature Bank of Arkansas and the Bank of Brinkley, the impact duck hunting has on our state is very clear. It brings in revenue through hunting licenses and gun and ammunition sales, not to mention tourism and hospitality.”

As a lifetime Arkansas resident and duck hunter, Gary understands how important it is to conserve habitat where and when we can. Greentree reservoir (GTR) restoration is what inspired Gary to become a President’s Council member. Council members provide annual gifts to Ducks Unlimited in support of conservation efforts in high-priority landscapes. Recently, Gary and the Bank of Brinkley made a $50,000 commitment to support GTR conservation work. This project will impact over 50,000 acres on 42 GTRs across 16 public wildlife management areas in Arkansas.
