In 2018, Ohios Holmes County Ducks Unlimited chapter hosted its first event, raising more than $33,000 and filling the venue with 236 attendees. That same year the committee wanted to host a second event, so they decided to participate in DUs calendar raffle program. Calendar sales went through the roof and brought the chapters fundraising total for the year to over $39,700.
The committees hard work did not go unnoticed: DU Senior Regional Director Aaron Dynes recognized the volunteers at the Ohio DU state convention, naming Holmes County the states Rookie Chapter of the Year.
They have incredible community support, which helps drive attendance and financial backing, Aaron says. To see what this chapter has accomplished the past two years is nothing short of impressive.
Led by Area Chairman Duane Raber, the chapter saw exceptional growth at its 2019 event, raising over $61,300 and increasing total attendance to more than 370 people. Our committee isnt huge, but we all work really hard to make sure that people have fun and understand the importance of what DU does, Duane says. Conservation is important to a lot of us in the community, and when you mix it with good food and great friends it can make for a very successful night.
