The National Chapter Excellence Awards criteria were established in fiscal year 2023 to recognize the outstanding performance of area chapters where leaders and volunteers met several growth standards with their annual events.

Of singular importance to note, the primary chapter event (usually a fundraising dinner) MUST meet the submission deadlines for compliance with 10/30 requirements. Both Wyoming state treasurer Lucy Pate and Robert Hathaway, Wyoming DU's senior regional director, are available to assist area chapter treasurers with 10/30 preparation and submission. The basic 10/30 information is available here.

Chapters qualifying at any level will receive a handsome banner for display at subsequent events and will receive recognition at the next DU National Convention. Year-over-year increases in all five criteria result in a gold award. Increases in any four of the criteria result in a silver award, and increases in any three of the criteria result in a bronze award.

Wyoming was very well represented in the FY 2023 award cycle, with eleven of the state chapters receiving National Chapter Excellence recognition:
    1) Gold award—Cheyenne, Crook County, Glenrock, Saratoga, Douglas, Big Horn River
    2) Silver award—Laramie, Buffalo, Green River, Powell Valley
    3) Bronze award—Bridger Valley

Each of these chapters was recognized at the DU National Convention in San Diego last summer and each also receives an impressive banner for display at their future events.

Senior Regional Director, Robert Hathaway, said, "I am honored to congratulate all the Wyoming chapters that earned a National Chapter Excellence award for FY23. We appreciate all the effort that our great volunteers and supporters have put forth.  Thank you for a record year."

State Chair, Lonny Vohland, added, "It is an honor to be involved with such a great group of volunteers that put in numerous hours to achieve the goals for the respective areas. I would like to Congratulate all the Wyoming Chapters that have received National DU recognition. Thank you all for all your hard work."

The entire state council and state committee pass their collective congratulations to these recipient chapters and to all their volunteers for this very real distinction.

Every Wyoming chapter's fundraising results contributed significantly to the state's totals for members, volunteers and event revenue, and we were exceptionally proud to see Wyoming recognized with a State Excellence Gold Award for FY2023 for significant gains in all three of those measured categories. We greatly appreciate the collective efforts of all our chapters, volunteers and members that brought us this very great honor. With the momentum in place, expectations are similarly high for the results from FY2024.
