Ducks Unlimited Minnesota ice fishing contest to draw thousands of participants
GARRISON, Minn., Feb. 4, 2016 - Ducks Unlimited in Garrison, Minnesota, will sponsor its 12th annual Fishing for Ducks ice fishing contest on Mille Lacs Lake from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20.
The event is the largest attended Ducks Unlimited event in the nation. Last year about 4,000 people enjoyed fishing, food, prizes and music on the frozen lake.
Fishing for Ducks offers more than $100,000 in prizes plus on-ice raffles, including a Chevrolet pickup or $20,000 for first place, an Ice Castle Wheelhouse for 100th place and Yamaha ATV door prize.
A kick-off party is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at The Y Club. The party is free to paid contestants.
Fishing contest tickets cost $30 per person per hole, with a limit of two holes per person. Tickets increase to $40 the week of the contest.
