MEMPHIS, Tenn. March 8, 2019 David Morrisons work with a variety of conservation organizations and agencies has resulted in successful and sound management of natural resources.

Ducks Unlimited paid tribute to Morrisons efforts by giving him the 2019 Ducks Unlimited State/Provincial Employee Award.

Morrison was honored today during the 84th North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference held in Denver, Colorado.

DUs 2019 Wetland Conservation Achievement Awards were presented in six categories and recognized individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the conservation and restoration of North Americas wetlands and waterfowl.

David has made a tremendous contribution to wildlife science, said Dr. Todd Merendino, DU manager of conservation programs in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. His enduring dedication to conservation and his understanding of the importance of todays conservation efforts on future generations creates a clear path for others to follow.

Morrisons career in wildlife biology began nearly four decades ago with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. He retired from there in 2000, having managed a public lands program including millions of acres of wetland habitats crucial to continental wildlife populations.

Morrisons career continued in Texas as Waterfowl Program Leader for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Since 2008, David has been involved with a TPWD-DU partnership resulting in millions of dollars in conservation funding and associated projects throughout the state of Texas.

He retired from Texas Parks and Wildlife late in 2018. His legacy as a crucial advocate for wetlands and waterfowl conservation is forever intact.

Every year dedicated conservation professionals are nominated for these awards. Nominees and those selected for recognition represent how people with a shared passion can achieve great things for wetlands and waterfowl conservation, Ducks Unlimited Chief Conservation Officer Nick Wiley said. Ducks Unlimited is pleased to recognize these efforts that serve as an inspiration for others to follow. Conservation requires teamwork and only by working together can we achieve effective and lasting success.
