DU Trailer Helps Beginning Hunters in North Dakota
Several North Dakota youth were able to go on their first waterfowl hunt this past fall, thanks to a new trailer stocked with decoys and blinds. The trailer was sponsored by DU's Great Plains Regional Office, with help from the North Dakota Game and Fish Department and Avery Outdoors. Families with young hunters can use the trailer free of charge.
"Having a sponsored trailer, complete with decoys and blinds and all the necessary hunting equipment, allowed us to plan a last-minute hunt for local youths," said Todd Wyman, who used the trailer this past fall. "The trailer made it possible to spend quality time out in the field with young people, instead of trying to locate or purchase all the necessary equipment. This type of program gives part-time outdoorsmen a chance to hunt and build a future for our waterfowling heritage."
Wyman's son Austin said that he made some new friends on what he calls a very memorable hunt. "Thank you, DU, for letting me and my friends use your trailer to hunt ducks," Austin said.
