DU shines in Wildlife Expo on Capitol Hill
This month, DU took part in a National Wildlife Refuge Expo on Capitol Hill. The expo was sponsored by the Cooperative Alliance for Refuge Enhancement, a coalition of 23 other wildlife, sporting conservation, and scientific organizations.
To entertain and educate visitors DU invited three time female world duck calling champion, Shelby Free. Free, a native of Stuttgart, AR performed her calls for members of Congress and their staffs. She gained rave reviews with the over 200 visitors and 10 members of Congress in attendance. A video of Shelby performing at the expo can be seen on DU's instagram page. Dan Wrinn, National Director of Governmental Affairs, even brought his dog Yankee, a three year old black lab to the event. Yankee performed retrieval exercises rigged with a go-pro camera capturing the dog's perspective of Congress. The event was a great success for DU; it provided a fun and interactive atmosphere to continue in educating on the importance of wetland conservation.
