Ducks Unlimited recently entered into an option agreement with the Wolf River Conservancy to purchase 160 acres in Fayette County, Tennessee, just 30 miles upstream from DU's national headquarters in Memphis. The option to purchase will allow DU to obtain approvals from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a proposed mitigation bank.
This tract encompasses 77 acres of forested wetlands and 83 acres of cropland. The property is adjacent to the Ghost River State Natural Area and Wolf River Wildlife Management Area. Restoration work will include reforestation of cropland on the property, which will provide seasonally flooded wetland habitat for waterfowl and a variety of other wildlife.
