Yamaha Rightwaters extends partnership with DU by committing $250,000 for conservation projects in Wisconsin and Florida
Yamaha Rightwaters is continuing their partnership with Ducks Unlimited by committing an additional $250,000 to wetlands and water conservation efforts over the next three years. This commitment marks the organization’s second gift to DU, and it will support projects in Wisconsin and Florida.
“The continued health and maintenance of marine environments is a key focus of Yamaha Rightwaters,” said Joshua Grier, sustainability program manager for Yamaha’s US Marine Business Unit. “Through working with Ducks Unlimited, Yamaha Rightwaters supports marine environment research as well as habitat restoration as a means of enhancing the overall quality and sustainability of the southeast wetlands and the Great Lakes.”
Yamaha’s support will help restore fisheries and wildlife habitats, combat invasive species, improve water quality and storage, support the outdoor recreation economy in Florida and Wisconsin, and combat climate threats in these areas.
“For the last five years, Yamaha Marine and its Rightwaters initiative have played an instrumental role in Ducks Unlimited’s wetland restoration, enhancement, and protection efforts throughout the country,” said DU Managing Director of Development Will Johnson. “From our initial collaboration in Texas and Louisiana to our ongoing partnership in Wisconsin and Florida, we’re grateful and excited to continue working together.”
Thanks in part to conservation partners like Yamaha Rightwaters, DU’s work in Wisconsin will help improve wetlands for wading birds and spawning habitat for northern pike. In Florida, collaborative efforts will help protect south Florida against hurricanes and prevent coastal erosion. Many threatened species will also benefit, including the Everglades snail kite, green sea turtle, West Indian manatee, black skimmer, and smalltooth sawfish.
Yamaha Rightwaters is a national sustainability program encompassing all of Yamaha Marine’s conservation and water quality efforts. Program initiatives include habitat restoration, support for scientific research, mitigation of invasive species, reduction of marine debris, and environmental stewardship education. Yamaha Rightwaters reinforces Yamaha’s long-standing history of natural resource conservation, support of sustainable recreational fishing and water resources, and the Angler Code of Ethics, which requires professional anglers to adhere to principles of stewardship for all marine resources.
