Wyoming Ducks Unlimited's volunteers know they had an excellent year in FY2023, and our end-of-year figures confirmed increases across the board; three new committees were stood up, five additional events were held and several more and larger conservation projects were completed compared to FY2022. These results represent the sum of every member’s and every chapter's collective effort across the state.  Most of our chapters saw some level of growth, and several chapters enjoyed record years.

In recognition, Ducks Unlimited has awarded Wyoming the State Excellence GOLD award for FY2023. This award is given only to those states whose event income, event attendance and volunteer numbers all saw increases over the prior year. Bronze awards are given to states with a single increase in event income. Silver awards are given to states with increases in income and either attendance or volunteers.

Wyoming saw increases of 35% in Event Income, 25% in Event Attendance and 19% in Volunteer numbers. Only eight states achieved the gold award status for FY2023, while 26 states received silver awards and one was recognized with a bronze level award.

In addition, Wyoming posted three top-ten claims among the several categories, with a fourth-place finish in percentage volunteer growth, seventh in overall volunteer growth and ninth in event revenue percentage growth.

Still further solidifying our claims to fame, Wyoming's Major Sponsor program was one of only three recognized as a Presidential Merit State for meeting or surpassing every one of its FY2023 goals—new life sponsors, major sponsor upgrades and Feather Society enrollments.

The State Excellence Gold Award was presented to Wyoming DU's representative during the National Leadership Conference at Ducks Unlimited's headquarters in Memphis, TN.

Similar chapter-level National Excellence Awards, formerly the Presidential Citation Awards, are given to area chapters whose annual results show year-over-year increases in at least three of five categories: event income, total income, event attendance, all membership and volunteer numbers. The FY2023 National Chapter Excellence Award results recognized eleven of our Wyoming chapters.
