Ducks Unlimited and its partners recently completed two projects to improve waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. On the ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge, DU worked closely with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to clean out canals and install three water-control structures to improve management capabilities on 1,280 acres of moist-soil habitat.
Ducks Unlimited also worked with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources to make improvements to the Mary's Island unit in addition to substantial work already under way on the Donnelley Wildlife Management Area. This project enhanced 136 acres of managed tidal habitat for waterfowl and other migratory birds through infrastructure repair and the installation of new water-control structures.
