Bogota Wildlife Management Area lies near the Obion River, a major wintering area in the Tennessee portion of the Mississippi Alluvial Valley. Ducks Unlimited and its partners restored and enhanced 500 acres of moist-soil habitat and flooded agricultural crops as part of the Bogota WMA Wetlands Enhancement project, constructing levees and installing 15 water-control structures, as well as constructing a water distribution system.
This project will increase management capabilities on Bogota WMA and provide foraging habitat for mallards, gadwalls, northern pintails, green-winged teal and northern shovelers. The area is managed by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to provide quality wintering habitat for waterfowl.
Bogota WMA also offers waterfowl hunting and other recreational opportunities in the heart of West Tennessee duck hunting country.
This project was funded in part by a North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) grant.
Partners: Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, North American Wetlands Conservation Council and Ducks Unlimited
