Ducks Unlimited is working with Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) to identify potential opportunities to improve wetland habitat conditions at the Toulon Lake portion of the Humboldt WMA. Ducks Unlimited engineers conducted a detailed topographic survey of the 2,400-acre project site and prepared a base map. The base map contains 1-foot contour interval topography identifying existing ditches, drainages, water control structures and levees. Alternatives for wetland habitat improvement are being analyzed, and Ducks Unlimited biologists will prepare a report for NDOW summarizing conceptual designs and general construction costs. The report will be used as guidance for selecting the components that will be constructed during a future phase of the project in order to provide the greatest wetland habitat benefits for the least cost.
