Purpose: The purpose of this project was to restore an open aquatic system (5 acres) by spraying herbicide to kill noxious phragmites. Additional funding was provided for the purchase of a submersible pump to be used for maintaining adequate water levels throughout the wetland. This project provides a unique habitat type that will benefit mallards, gadwall, ring-necked ducks, and lesser scaup.

Location: The project is located on the east end of Harkers Island in Carteret County, NC.
