So I figure that most of the obvious advice has been tossed around quite a lot...train in the mornings or in the evenings, do some waterwork, don't overheat, have water on hand etc...

What other tips or tricks have you folks used over the years and summers gone by; or am I beating a dead horse?

I do the early morning or just before sunset training thing when temps are up. Since we are entering the season where issues can occur with heat, I found this article which everyone should read, save, and/or print in case they run into hear issues.

That is a good read and great advice.  Take it to heart, it could well save your buddy.

Like you said, early morning and evenings are definetly the times to train.

Also, what I like to do is start with water work and then move to field work after, this helps them to stay cool while field training and basically, once they are dry, I call it a day and my wife isn't upset because im not bringing home wet dogs!

Make 'em dead!
