I don't think I'd worry about it, honestly. The reason for a jerk rope is to add motion on the water for a more realistic look. Having the decoys on your rope looking like they are feeding isn't going to add any extra realism and help you kill more ducks.
However, I do know what you're talking about! It does look good. Clip your decoys to the rope by the hole in the front of the keel and keep the line tight between decoys, and pull the cord fairly hard. Make sure the birds sight of you is distracted before you do it though.
